Hyderabad Traffic! Who is Culprit?

I have been going through the busy crowds along the streets of the IT destination in Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad. I have been driving through the crowds (of what? People or Machines?) of Hyderabad and Secunderabad; and have seen, been and heard about the Hyderabad Traffic, one I guess is nothing less famous than the hyderabadi Biryani. For sure, there are days, I have cursed the traffic constable, the auto wallah, the bus driver, the car driver, the pedellers, foot pathers and who not, on the note - traffic troublers!

A thought, "Who is the Culprit?", is quiet common for many, to get; and quiet obvious answer most times - "The Government"! But, is it truely the goverment's fault? My initial thoughts are - "Yes, It's the government! If politicians could have been loyal, and ensured the development plans are done as per quality norms, may be situation might be different. If the traffic control department, been more vigilent and more manging, situation would be different. If the City Bus Drivers fallow the traffic rules, situation would be much better. If the auto wallah is decent enough to be not rude, situation would be good. If the biker who crossed me knew not to over take me on my left, situation would be different. If... If... If...". Is it truly the problem with others that much? May be yes. May be No.

We talk a lot about the Hyderabad traffic. Criticise as "Only hyderabadi can drive on the roads of hyderabad", "Hyderabadi's don't have minimum traffic sense", "Hyderabad traffic is pathatic", and blah blah blah.... But who is this hyderabad and hyderabadi? Is he a person? If so who? Where does he live. There there, we start pointing to those who are settled, born and brought in hyderabad. Are they the only hyderabadi's? I guess no. We irrespective of where we have born, brought up and settled, today we are living in hyderabad and are hyderabadi's. We curse ourselves on the name of non-existing type hyderabad.

We curse the traffic constable, the foot pathers, the person driving his car, scotter, auto, bus, cycle; in the front on the back or on the sides. We comment that government is not working, government is sleeping. May be all these are true, or may be false. But have we ever thought if I, Me, You, tried to fallow any of the rules on road? When there is a chance we overtake on right, and curse if someone else does the same. We switch lanes with out thinking who is coming behind, and couldn't control anger if some one deos the same. We love to jump the signal post, when the signal is read, shout at traffic constable and wonder what he is doing? We don't think about motor vehicle owners when crossing and expect them to drive with our safety in mind, but we never try the same!

So, who is the culprit? I have an answer, and assume I made it clear.

I thought on similar lines on more than one occasion.

It's the growing irresponsbility and mutual respect among the people.

Everyone wants the system to be perfect, rules being followed.
But, wedon't think whether we are doing it in the first case - We can't and we have a false excuse for that.

An article came in October 7th Eendadu Sunday magazine which gives more examples of increase in the number of people with this nature.
