Sarkar Raj

RGV is Ace director and is known for his experimental direction. With his two last major projects made a flop at the box office, he is working hard to come back. What would be better than a sequel to his hit movie - 'Sarkar'. Being his come back movie people's expectations are high. With this let me come to the review.

Though RGV claims Sarkar Raj is not a sequel to Sarkar, I find it as a perfect Sequel. The story runs around the family of Subash Nagare (played by Amitabh Bachan) and his followers and the politicians, business people and other people who are run by his support. However, the sequel has a change - the story runs around Shankar son of Subash (played by Abhishek Bachan). He is shown to get into his fathers shoes at the end of the Sarkar.

The story line can be read in any place. I would say the story line is well conceived and RGV has done an excellent movie in getting the story line depicting. Though there are some hither and thither faults I could see. Particularly, I don't think Abishek Bachan suited well in his role of a Mini Don, who took the bad path for the betterment of all. Many places his expression is quite arguable. I couldn't make out if he interestingly tookup the position of don or he is forced to the position due to the earlier sequences in his life (that happened in Sarkar). Also, there are more than one instance that his expressions show his difference to Subahs, the main Sarkar. Interestingly, the story line never went to have any such in-difference.

Also, another thing to notice - Subash and Shankar are not shown as the Gonda Raj's; who have taken this path for the betterment of people. But are shown as heroes and Social Activities. RGV has depicted 'Sarkar' as a Gonda lead Government run in parallel to the Maharastra Government with the motive of doing good to all. Though this is still the motive even in Sarkar Raj, Sarcastically Subash and Shankar are shown to be great leaders. Particularly, the role Shankar in convincing the people for the Power project, showed more of re-showing himself to the public as a leader than a Sarkar, a Gonda. Have RGV not choose to kill the character, I guess our Shankar would have become the next Chief Minister of Maharastra.

Oh! Forgot the role of Aishwarya Rai Bachan. Though RGV claims to have shown Aishwaraya Rai Bachan as a true corporate, I didn't a corporate in her. Though the initial trys to make her show as a serious money maker, over the story she is shown to be more as a Employer than a Corporate leader. She played the role of Anita, an NRI and head of Multinational Power Project Company. The movie shows her father the director of the Multinational to be a Money Greed Foreignised Indian introducing himself as Mike, yet his daughter is still shown as the good Indian Girl. Guess RGV tried to win the hearts of Mr. Bachan by putting his family members in good roles. Well I should accept, she is not shown as bollywood blonde girl, at the same time she is not shown as serious corporate interested in money earning person. She has played her role well with dignity. Offcourse, she has cried more, more than what her role requires.

In the end the movie shows Aiswarya Rai Bachan as the successor to Subash's Gonda Raj - Sarkar. All in all, inspite of few here and there mistakes I consider, I say this is good hit back to RGV. I rate it as 3.75/5. The movie is worth watching.

P.S: I made no direct contact to the other roles and story line. This is no mistake. I support watching the movie.
